he Episcopal Foundation of Dallas was established at the request of Bishop Mason by the Diocesan Convention of 1950. (See History) Since that time, the Foundation has offered support to the mission of the Diocese of Dallas by managing the permanent trusts and long-term funds that belong to the Diocese, to individual mission and churches, and to other Episcopal organizations.
The Episcopal Foundation of Dallas is organized as a Texas non-profit corporation and is qualified as a Section 501(c)(3) exempt organization.
The Foundation is a separate, independent entity, organized and operating outside of the jurisdiction of the Episcopal Diocese of Dallas, The Episcopal Church and the Diocesan and General Conventions of the Church.
The mission of the Foundation (See Mission) is to serve as a financial resource for Episcopal parishes, missions, schools and organizations in support of the Christian mission and of the ministry of the Episcopal Diocese of Dallas.
The Foundation is professionally managed and is governed by its own fifteen member board of trustees (See Board), all of whom are committed to good stewardship, prudent investment and faithful disbursement of the funds entrusted to the Foundation. The Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Dallas serves as an
ex officio member of the board.
SERVICES
Investment Management
The Episcopal Foundation of Dallas offers Episcopal parishes and individuals a wide range of financial services and investment counsel. Under the guidance of some of Dallas' most well-respected leaders in the financial industries, the Investment Committee (See Investment Committee) and Board of Trustees offer parishes, vestries and individuals skilled and dependable investment management of their funds. The goal of the Investment Committee is to preserve and enhance financial assets through disciplined and consistent investment philosophy. (See Investment Policy) A diversified portfolio, both as to fixed income and equity holdings, provides assurance that the portfolio will maximize growth while maintaining stability with minimization of risk.
The Foundation offers in-house accounting services to its clients, thus providing both individuals and parishes the ability to establish permanent endowment funds and to designate specific recipients and disbursement schedules to meet the clients' philanthropic goals. (See Investing)
Individual Philanthropy
The Episcopal Foundation of Dallas offers individuals who are interested in contributing to their church and to charities the opportunity to plan philanthropic gifts with vehicles that allow them to designate specific recipients and to maximize tax savings. (See Giving)
Annual Grant Giving
The Episcopal Foundation of Dallas also offers direct financial support to Episcopal organizations in the form of annual grants. Grant applications are reviewed annually by the Grant Committee and approved by the Board of Trustees. The Foundation will make grants only to churches, missions, and nonprofit organizations which are located within the geographic boundaries of the Diocese of Dallas (See Map) and which support the mission statement of the Foundation. Diocesan Support
Since its establishment in 1950, the Episcopal Foundation of Dallas has managed the assets of trusts and long-term funds that belong to the Diocese of Dallas, to Episcopal churches and missions, and to other Episcopal organizations, in support of the Christian mission and ministry of the Episcopal Diocese of Dallas.
The Foundation also provided administrative and financial service support to the Diocese in the initial fundraising efforts for the Onward capital campaign, helping raise over $5.5 million for the purchase and construction of All Saints Camp and Conference Center on Lake Texoma. The camp celebrated its inaugural summer season in 2006 with over 200 young campers from across the Diocese.
